Vampire Diaries 6x17 : our review

There is no denying the sixth season of The Vampire Diaries continues to impress us, episode after episode, with its freshness and innovation. Caroline and Stefan, both without their humanity, bring a lighter side, dangerous and sexy at the show, we had not had for a long time. As for Bonnie, her character becomes more and more interesting since her 1994 return and we can not wait to see how this change will affect the end of the season.  Episode 17 titled "A Bird in A Gilded Cage", begins by giving a brief overview of our two vampires without humanity, Caroline and Stefan, independently of each other. Caroline is cleaning the bar, something unusual for someone who is not supposed to be concerned. Stefan, meanwhile, is in search of weapons, a more appropriate behavior for the situation. While Caroline auditioned to star in a production of the University, we understand that Stefan is determined to make her dive with him. He does not accept the fact that she is always in control and he wants to take revenge on her for forcing him to turn off his humanity so that she suffers as much as him when they find human emotions back.

Throughout the episode steroline will has a small war of revenge, but Stefan is clearly taking over, especially by showing Caroline she can not do it. It will finally succeed by drinking blood directly on the neck of an innocent young woman. Caroline finally let go, and not just for drinking, indeed, she then jumps on Stefan. So we are seeing the first time of steroline, a moment that would certainly have been very different if they had their humanity. For their part, Alaric and Enzo have also embarked on a mission to capture Caroline and Stefan to restore their humanity. A rather unlikely duo when you know Enzo, but his behavior has changed since Caroline is no longer herself. Their mission fails miserably, however, Alaric eventually even be tell of by Jo because he risked his life stupidly. Enzo ends at the bedside of Sarah, and he seemed to regret what he did but he made the mistake - or is it deliberate? -to Call her "Sarah Salvatore". Does the young woman will finally discover the truth?

Meanwhile, Elena, Damon, Bonnie and Kai back in 1903, to free Lily Salvatore, despite the reluctance of Damon. Elena believes that Lily will be an emotional trigger for Stefan and he will becomes himself again, because he was very close to his mother as a child. In this way, Stefan will bring back the true Caroline, and everything would be in order. If Damon is not really excited about the reunion, Elena is very excited to meet the mother "of her two epic love. Actually, she is the only one. Once in 1903, they split into two groups: Damon and Elena will find Lily and Kai and Bonnie have to go find the Ascendant. Lily Salvatore is much more quiet and pleasant than we would have thought, especially after spending more than a century in prison. She explains how she got there and how she survived, thanks to some blood in her possession and that forced to control her ripper impulsives.

We eventually discovered that Mama Salvatore is not alone in this prison, but several other vampires were locked up with her, probably because they were too dangerous. But for now they are barely alive, having chosen to sacrifice for Lily. Elena finds the Ascendant, and then understand that Bonnie is not looking for it. Damon was able to convince the woman to come by promising her that once in prison, she could have her revenge on Kai! After making him believe that she thought he had changed, she stabs him in the back to make him feel what she experienced. From there, events are accelerating, so it's time to go home. Bonnie and Elena begin the ritual, Damon has to convince his mother from leaving "her family" behind her and Kai arrives too late and see others leave the prison world. He finds himself stuck in 1903, with several hungry vampires. His fate is uncertain for the moment. 

Bonnie had her revenge and to thank Damon, she gives him the cure against vampirism, she went get it back in 1994. What will Damon do of the cure? Unfortunately, we have to be patient to see the end because the episode 18 of season 6 of The Vampire Diaries will be only aired on April,16th! What did you think of this episode?
