Devious Maids 3x05 : our review

After the dramatic finish of the fourth episode, in which Genevieve is suspected of killing Louie Becker, the series resumes exactly where it left off last week. From the beginning of the episode, Michael Stappord flies to the rescue of Genevieve for her interrogation with the police. Despite the tense situation, the patroness of Zoila arrives to make it a fresh and funny moment. One never tires of her humor all her own. Again, Genevieve proves she is one of the most important comic strengths of Devious Maids. We are also sad to know that she's going to Greece because it means she will be absent for several episodes; an episode without Genevieve is often a less funny episode. Until her departure, Genevieve is at the heart of the scandal on this episode: a sextape! Who knew the elegant and distinguished Genevieve Delatour was one day addicted to such practices?

Word of mouth is practiced brilliantly in this episode and it's fun to follow. It is also noted that the residents of Country Club are sometimes worse than high school girls : when Evelyne sends Genevieve's sextape to everyone. Have we fallen into a teen show like Gossip Girl? keep calm, it's always Devious Maids! 

The central plot of the season continues and we discover more about what really happened the night of the murder of Louie Becker. The latter was hired by Michael Stappord to monitor her wife, Taylor (go see her interview on nessword.com). But she is  riddled with guilt at seeing the media talking about the murder of the tennis teacher. On the one hand, we say that she is guilty. But on the other, we say it would be too simple and above all we do not understand exactly why she would do that. 

We discover that her daughter Katy puts drugs in her wine glass without her knowledge. ALCOHOL + DRUGS  = DANGER !!! Did Taylor killed Louie Becker while she was unconscious? Why Katy behaves like this with her mother? The plot brings us new answers (and new questions!) In every episode and continues to captivate us. The series shows that it has fully recovered the charm of its first season.

This episode is also interested in the boss-employee relationship and shows that there is no limit. In the first season, Rosie and Spence have maintained an extramarital relationship. Ok this is far from classy but they sincerely loved each other and this is neither the first nor the last! Today, Carmen has to satisfy the sadomasochistic wishes of Adrian Powell. 

In the category of awkward and hilarious scenes, we can also quote the passage where Jesse listens the conversation between Carmen and Marisol, the latter evoking her attraction to him. 

Finally, Rosie begins to dream of Ernesto. Suffice to say that it was more than expected! I hope that the love triangle Spence / Rosie / Ernesto will not take too much space throughout the season. 

In the end, scandal, humor, blackmail, sex and mystery plot punctuate this episode! We want the next episode!
