The Duff : our review

Synopsis: In her final year in high school, Bianca discovers at a party that she is the stooge of her group of friends: she is a "DUFF" (Designated Ugly Fat Friend). Intelligent, cynical and honest, the girl of 17 years old takes very badly that nickname, and decides to take revenge on her former friends with the help of Wesley, the most popular and charismatic boy of the school.

Although predictable, The Duff remains a good comedy, it was  fun at any time. Some scenes are even some surprising reversals : Toby who "duff" Bianca, at the turn of events one would think that they would go out together and that Wesley would have said that he actually loves her and this will simply make her realize who she really loves... . Although Wesley drops his horrible girlfriend in the middle of homecoming, she remains more or less unpunished for the videos she sent, so there is no moral about that.
Despite some cliches, The Duff remains good entertainment.

Well we will not lie this is a cheesy teen movie. However, the substance of the matter is not less uninteresting. We are in such a superficial and hypocritical world that schools become a living hell for sure. This film tells us, without poetry, this girl is a "duff", her entourage uses her to highlight. This film takes us on the benches of schools with good old clichés "the handsome quaterback " "the sexy cheerleader" and "the poor girl that nobody looks and a little dumpy." Cliché but itis nevertheless true in every high school.

It transported us into the world of this girl who doesn't feel confortable in her skin but who touches us and comes to make us laugh, so we laugh then you wonder "but wait, that girl is me? tell me I am not a"Duff" But I hope eventually this film shows us an important thing.. high school is just a ridiculous period of our lives.

About the direction and production side, it flies not high.

It is not a masterpiece but it's still a rather successful comedy in the tradition of "mean girls" or even  "Easy A". Scandal on the internet and teenage pettiness are here and we love it. However, big downside to the somewhat too cliché / cheesy script of some scenes.

Special mention for the realism in the practice of new media and social networks. All in all a pleasant and funny movie that gives courage to all former or current "Duff" of this world!

When I read the synopsis, I told myself: a lousy that serves as scapegoat to his comrades and who will go through the usual ritual of teen movies relating to makeover: sports, shopping, make-up, coaching BOOM land slob becomes the princess, the ugly becomes seductive.

Well no. There is a bit of that but no, the film is strangely subtle and nourishes an interesting reflection on prejudice: the silly and superficial presumed athlete who finally is friendly and fun, girlfriends of the duff that although most beautiful - it's not their fault ... huh - are not less sincere, and then finally the good old designated "ugly"  who doesn't completely fall into this "beauty race" like we expected.

Well knowing that we are in an American teen comedy we all know that there is a happy ending. I found the movie very correct because above his promises.

I would add that it is even quite funny, the character of Wesley is very nice and the duo he forms with the lead actress gives something pretty cool I think. After if you do not like at all this kind of movie, do not waste your time, but if this kind of movie does not displease you,  you will spend a good time.

For the rest you have to trust me...

May the odds be ever in your favor...
You know you love me...
