Well, Romeo and Juliet it was cool, it was trendy at the time. But the love story between two people from rival clans, it lasted 400 years, by dint we get tired.
I would have guessed, this is an American romantic comedy. Which means the usual pattern:
- a Meeting based on pulse-repulsion
- The two protagonists tame and discover they are both absolutely fabulous
- Betrayal and drama based on "you have disappointed me Robert, I never talk to you again!"
- Women's Awareness: "Robert I actually love you!". rejection of the man, "Bella, I'm a vampire, we can't be together!"
- Final languorous based wet kisses, if possible in the middle of a cheering crowd and with joyful song
The End.
We pass on the soundtrack based bland pop revised in Cappella by voices formatted for radio. (Yet I have nothing against pop).
We pass on Anna "Deadfish Eyes" Kendrick who did not seem to understand what she's doing in this film.
We pass on the usual clichés of the psycho blonde and the redhead who discover that in fact life is not that.
We pass on the character of the fat uninhibited girl who becomes a standard in American comedy (hey did you see? We're not monsters! We put people like you for you to stop accusing us to format the physical of American youth! well we will give her a supporting role anyway, then the rest of the girls will be hot babes. Should not kidding).
But seriously. A large stage with an audience of +/- 1,000 people. Two ... TWO microphones? What? Others have bionic voices or what? They are able to sing louder than sound that sends 95dB and an audience screaming? Seriously guys ...
Leaving The Hit Girls, we say "never again"! Yes please, musical teen movie taking place on American campuses are completely indigestible for us French. So do not watch this film: they stay on the other side of the Atlantic where there are such choirs, this type of university and where we understand this type of humor.
I do not entirely banned these kind of movies, quite the contrary. I frankly loved "Glee" because the songs were refreshing and there was real history behind this. But this film really made me bored at the point. And I also love films that go on American campuses, but now I really expected much better.
