The first thing we notice in Ted 2 is that the film takes tunes from musicals. Whether in the introduction or the rest of the film, there are 4-5 music where the actors sing and dance. The music is very good, and certain scenes allow a comic side. And there is a difference sense. Ted 1 was quite serious in its style, serious and violent in its dialogues. In the 2 they sing, dance and some situations are pretty wacky but not in the vulgar style.
It was also a slower pace than the first, we take the time to exploit the scenario and the valves do not burst forth in all directions, they are similar enough condensed in certain periods of the film. Moreover, the film is less aggressive, the perfect example is the comparison of two battle scenes between John and Ted. In Ted 1, they fight in the motel, everything breaks, it's pretty violent and they are really hurt. In the 2, they fight for a beer but the camera focuses on Samantha's monologue. So we witness the battle from afar, without noises and without real words. Just a series of low blows.
In terms of actors, Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried are really good, and she is really pretty. The presence of Morgan Freeman is secondary but significant as the presence of another mystery actor. Significant tone adopted by this sequel, a cool tone, lighter, less violent.
Ted was a good surprise. For his directorial debut Seth MacFarlane knew adapted his irreverent humor to the big screen. With Ted 2, he returned to what made his success, sometimes bold but effective humor, with a hint of reflection on American society.
We can criticize his gritty humor, but it would be so simplistic. He spares no one, even if he tends to often hit below the belt. How not to explode with laughter when Mark Wahlberg is found in the sperm bank? It sounds easy as gag, sometimes it looks like a series of skits and yet he manages to make a coherent film of nearly two hours.
It also raises a recurring question: can we laugh at everything? Yes, but not with everyone. Seth MacFarlane is possible to mock the September 11th and when we know the excessive patriotism of the Americans, it is quite swollen from him. But he does not stop there and offers one of the funniest scenes of the film, based on Charlie Hebdo, Bill Cosby, Robin Williams, etc ....
He does not respect anything or anyone, but it's never really mean except for susceptible people. This is a movie very "American" playing with its own culture through Rocky, Flash, Star Wars, Transformers and others. It seems slight at first, but Ted's situation and scenes at the court, this country returns to its past unflattering.
Wondering if Ted is human, he recalled that the black man has suffered the same fate 150 years earlier and can even draw a parallel with Kunta Kinte, through a whipping scene.
The film is a succession of sketches and valves. I thoroughly laughed. The consistently high quality of all is a treat. I was carried away in a whirlwind of comic high level. The dialogists not refuse any sentence even if it's shameful and shocking J'adore!
For cons, the writers took less time to write the frame for drafting texts. Indeed, history has no interest and it is secondary. Its unique role is to provide support to the great spectacle offered by the two acolytes. The outcome of the struggle of Ted appears predictable. The only question is what path will be taken to get there.
And here, the path comes down to be a succession of gags. The twists are not in the plot but in the surprise of about their dialogues or situations experienced by the heroes. I do not particularly criticizes the writers to have made this choice. I find they just decided to make this film a comedy show more than a story.
The duo John - Ted always work with the fire of God. The view from their delusions is still hilarious. Their lawyer is played by Amanda Seyfried. She manages to make her character exist alongside the two jokers! She has a definite contribution to the history and does not play the role of botox girl. In addition, she manages to replace the ex lead female Mila Kunis. It is not nothing !
Finally, Ted 2 is really to see. Totally different from the first game, Ted 2 takes a more healthy and entertaining atmosphere. Personally, I really enjoyed seeing this film and I was surprised.
May the odds be ever in your favor,
You know you love me,
XOXO
